Hello,
Local Recordings in Restream Studio are here.
You can now capture isolated participant tracks and sources locally in high quality — whether you’re live streaming or running a record-only session.
With Local Recordings (currently in Beta) every participant’s camera, mic, screen share, and local video are recorded directly on their own device, even if their internet connection isn’t perfect.
Once the session ends, all tracks automatically upload and are ready for the host to download.
This means:
• 🎧 Crystal-clear audio and video — no more quality drops or glitches when the network hiccups
• 🎬 Separate files for each source (WebM, MP4, WAV) — perfect for podcasts, interviews, and studio-grade editing
• ⚡ Reliable recording regardless of connection issues
👉 Pro tip: Use the latest Google Chrome for the best experience. Learn more → https://support.restream.io/en/articles/12459078-record-locally-in-studio-beta

We’d love your feedback as we continue to improve and expand the feature in Beta.
Coming soon:
• Support for 4K cameras
• XML file export for easier editing
Share your thoughts and suggestions via our support.
Thank you,
Matt from Restream

can we have the ability to record video/audio locally - split by host and guests - splitting out audio and video.

With the option to upload AFTER the session. Constant Buffering and uploading during the recording has its flaws and issues as well. but if you can wait until the session ends, that would be helpful.

Yes please, it is super necessary and also the platform should keep the HD quality even the screen has been resized to bubbles or whatever size in the stream.

Please add this feature soon as possible!

Saving full HD local recordings of each guest

The main thing I'd love is the option to also save full-res HD files of each guest to their local machine, and then upload them after the event ends, so that I'd have perfect video files that weren't limited to streaming performance, and could re-edit the guests to a more polished final piece. This is literally the ONLY reason I still need Riverside.fm, and can't just use Restream fully.

The stored cloud recordings are not high quality. If you have a glitch in the stream, then the recording shows the glitch. Local recordings, like other platforms support, allow you to have a master that can be used for editing
If you have a stable stream the quality is great otherwise if just a small degradation is replicated in the storage.
Local recordings, like other platforms support, allow you to have a master that can be used for editing.

Indeed, at this point I'm reconsidering my choice for restream as Streamyard and Riverside make it possible to achieve much higher sound and video quality when editing after the recording.
